Why FiRL? What’s in it for me?

FiRL is different by design, rooted in a mission to address two critical needs in our society: restoring our local communities and fostering economic practices that promote health, innovation, and wide-spread prosperity. By tackling these issues synergistically, we are directly working to improve social connection and quality of life where it matters most — where you live.

Live your best life.

We need meaningful social connections to foster our well-being, friends who will be with us to celebrate the good times and friends who will be there for us when times are tough.

Support your neighbors.

Small business is the economic engine of local communities. We want to help the risk-takers and entrepreneurs in our communities succeed by voting with our feet and with our dollars. When local small-businesses succeed, the whole community benefits.

Create ripples of change.

We each have a role to play in creating the world we want to live in. At FiRL, we dream of world full of culturally rich, diverse towns and communities, where smiling faces grace the streets and local businesses are bustling with activity.

Who started FiRL?

Anna Berg

Anna is an entrepreneur, a charismatic leader, and a compassionate caregiver. Over the past decade she started a small business focused on providing products and education for personal care and wellness, and she served the healthcare industry as a cardiac rhythm management clinical specialist.

When her children were young, Anna embraced the challenge of homeschooling where she learned the immeasurable value of an integrated community.  It was during those formative years for her children that social media and the digital economy began to adversely affect how we all connect with one another.

In her free time, Anna enjoys hiking, skiing, and camping with her family.  With her children now entering adulthood, she enjoys learning about and embracing their new interests as well.

Anna is the visionary heart, mind, and soul of FiRL, focused on spreading the healing power of community.

Christian Berg

Christian was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes just prior to his 5th birthday, and he grew up acutely sensitive to real-world future consequences of present actions.  With a passion for problem solving, he earned a B.S. in biophysics, with an ensuing career in biotechnology and medical device manufacturing operations management at industry leading companies.

Over the course of his career, Christian sharpened his leadership and problem solving skills by earning an M.S. in organizational leadership and black belt certifications in Six Sigma and Lean methodology.  Christian is currently serving the life sciences industry as a digital transformation consultant.

When he’s not in problem-solving mode, Christian enjoys spending time with his family, conquering trails on his mountain bike, carving the slopes on his skis, and playing soccer with his friends.

Christian is a tactical operations executor, advancing FiRL’s mission.
